Job Title: HR Talent Officer

The HR Talent Officer will support the talent acquisition, development and retention of employees up to the supervisory level, ensuring that supervisory and weekly workforce processes are executed efficiently and effectively. The role plays a key part in managing Industrial Relations, training and development, and performance management activities within established guidelines, while contributing to a positive and productive work environment through the timely resolution of employee relations matters. Additionally, the Talent Officer will support the promotion and reinforcement of the organization’s values across all levels of staff.

Qualifications and Experience:

  •   Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent accreditation in Management Studies from a recognized institution and three (3) to five (5) years of Human Resources experience, OR

  • Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management or equivalent accreditation in Management Studies from a recognized institution and two (2) years' experience in the HR field, OR

  • Seven (7) years of experience in the HR field, OR

  Any similar combination of education and experience

Specific Knowledge (however acquired) Required to Start:

  • Sound knowledge of Human Resource Policies and Procedures.

  • Sound knowledge of employee relations policies and procedures.

  • Working knowledge of industrial relations policies and procedures and labour laws

Required Skills and Specialised Techniques:

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills- flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels, ability to develop strong trusting relationship

  • Excellent time management skills – self-directed and motivated, ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities

  • Ability to pay attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions). Review the completeness of appraisals before calculating and recording the aggregate scores and prepare recommendations for actions.

  •  Consult with line management providing HR guidance when appropriate.

  •   Design and implement training interventions for relevant groups in the company.

  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.

  • Works closely with the HR Manager and line management to manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Provide guidance to line management thereby ensuring that effective, thorough and objective investigations are conducted.

  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.

  • Update/ Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation.

  • Analyze and complete all required HR reports for Group and other requirements.

  • Investigate and conduct Disciplinary Hearings within the established MOL and internal guidelines.

  • Manage staff engagement activities, including functions, magazines and other communication mediums

  • Assist in the identification and implementation of activities for the dissemination of company Values to employees.

  •  Participate in the evaluation and monitoring of the success of training programs. Follow-up to ensure training objectives are met.

  • Performs any other related duties which may be assigned from time to time.
