Integrated Management Systems Manager

Core Functions:

The IMS Manager works in collaboration with the Managing Director and takes responsibility for a wide range of activities daily, weekly and monthly in support of the Company’s Management systems.  

Minimum Requirements:

Qualification and Experience:

  • First Degree in Food Science/Food Chemistry or equivalent, plus

  • Three (3) years’ post qualification experience in a leadership position covering either quality, safety or environmental processes.

Specific Knowledge (however acquired) Required to Start:

  • Expert knowledge of ISO or its equivalent management systems standards.

  • Working knowledge of auditing fundamentals, practices, procedures and work methods.

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing company’s safety and environmental policies and procedures.

  • Working knowledge of the policies and perspectives that guide the company’s operations.

Required Skills and Specialised Techniques:

  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards.

  • Expertise in food safety management systems.

  • Understanding of sustainability practices and initiatives.

  • Proficiency in quality management systems and tools.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams.

  • Works closely with the departmental heads to assist with the understanding and implementation of but not limited to an Integrated Management System (IMS) comprising of, Health and Safety, Food Safety, Sustainability and Quality Management.

Health and Safety: Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.

Food Safety: Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and standards. Oversee the implementation of food safety management systems and conduct regular inspections.

Sustainability: Promote and implement sustainable practices within the organization. Develop strategies to reduce environmental impact and enhance sustainability initiatives.

Quality Management Systems: Maintain and improve quality management systems to ensure products and services meet the highest standards. Conduct regular quality audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

Training and Development: Provide training and support to employees on health and safety, food safety, sustainability, and quality management systems.

Compliance: Ensure all practices comply with relevant local, national, and international regulations and standards.

Reporting: Prepare and present reports on health and safety, food safety, sustainability, and quality performance to senior management.

Aid in establishing and maintaining an organizational culture of continuous improvement through the development of activities that build collaboration between departments/functional areas.  

Perform other reasonable job-related duties that maybe assigned by management

Authority To:

  •  Develop, revise, and implement health, safety, food safety, sustainability, and quality management policies and procedures.

  •  Enforce compliance with all relevant local, national, and international regulations and standards.

  •  Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments, and to take corrective actions as necessary.

  • Training and Education

  • Design and deliver training programs for employees on health, safety, food safety, sustainability, and quality management systems.

  •  Mandate participation in training sessions and ensure all employees are adequately informed and trained.

  •  Allocate resources, including budget and personnel, to support health, safety, food safety, sustainability, and quality initiatives with approval from the Managing Director.

  • Procure necessary equipment and materials to ensure compliance and safety.

  • Incident Investigation and Reporting with approval from the Managing Director.:

  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and non-compliance issues.

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives and best practices to enhance the effectiveness of health, safety, food safety, sustainability, and quality management systems.

  • Communicate directly with regulatory bodies and external auditors.

Performance Criteria:

Health and Safety:

Reduction in workplace incidents and accidents.

Compliance rate with health and safety audits.

Number of safety training sessions conducted.

Food Safety:

Compliance rate with food safety inspections.

Number of food safety violations.

Implementation rate of corrective actions.

Sustainability:

Reduction in carbon footprint and waste generation.

Implementation of sustainability initiatives.

Employee engagement in sustainability programs.

Quality Management:

Compliance rate with quality audits.

Number of product defects and recalls.

Customer satisfaction and feedback scores.
