To plan, define, develop, and coordinate the implementation, operation, and maintenance of the Group’s Information, Computer, and Telecommunications (ICT) infrastructure in alignment with business requirements, standards and specifications.
2.1 Plan, define, develop, recommend and implement the requirements, standards, specifications, systems, policies and procedures necessary for the achievement of the Group’s ICT infrastructure goals and objectives.
2.3 Provide technical advice, guidance, and on the job training for system users as required.
Prepare draft network and infrastructure budget proposals and administer approved budgets.
Coordinate a team of IT staff as required, e.g. for projects.
KEY DUTIES
Provide support to all Business Units with respect to resolving issues with their ICT network and infrastructure (including PCs, servers, LANs, WANs, video conferencing, cybersecurity systems, system software, and any device or application connected to the network).
Coordinate the work of ICT staff, develop work-plans, review daily progress on assignments, monitor adherence to deadlines; and provide assistance where necessary.
Liaise with suppliers of network and infrastructure equipment, infrastructure services, and system software concerning maintenance, upgrade, and purchases as it pertains to the Group’s ICT infrastructure
Develop, recommend and implement plans, programmes, policies, systems, so as to ensure the achievement of established corporate objectives.
To provide reports to the Group IT Management on departmental activities at designated frequencies.
Keep abreast of ICT developments and make recommendations to management of any relevant purchases being planned or those beneficial to developments in the ICT industry.
Make recommendations on the training required for ICT staff in supporting the networks and infrastructure installed.
Provide technical advice, guidance and on the job training for system users so as facilitate the achievement of established objectives and satisfy approved standards and specifications
Perform other related duties as required by the job function
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Report directly to the IT Manager
Liaises with Business Unit General Managers, Executives, Managers or users as required
Liaise with all departmental and divisional heads internally and with institutional agencies, governmental organizations and vendors and suppliers specializing in ICT locally, regionally and internationally as required.
Authorised to:
Design, develop, implement, maintain and modify the Group’s ICT network and infrastructure solutions, systems. and equipment.
Source, procure, test and evaluate Network and Infrastructure options to satisfy system specifications.
Assist and provide IT support for all Cybersecurity solutions and End Point protection in accordance with specifications.
Assist with the preparation of, and administer, draft Network and Infrastructure budgets.
Coordinate and administer the activities of a team of ICT staff for systems activities and projects.
Reporting on Networking and Infrastructure projects and activities as required.
Reporting on Network and Infrastructure reliability and performance reports as required.
Implementation / Change Management reports for network and infrastructure solutions / changes.
7.1 Extent to which ICT Network and Infrastructure equipment and systems uptime targets are met.
7.2. Extent to which ICT Network and Infrastructure system availability, serviceability and efficiency requirements are satisfied.
7.3 Extent to which ICT Network and Infrastructure solutions proposed and implemented facilitate achievement of defined business objectives

7.4 Nature and level of Network and Infrastructure budget variances.
7.5 Reporting and communication on Network and Infrastructure activities
The incumbent should possess:
An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field, with a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience.
Sound theoretical and practical knowledge of information and communications technology (ICT) policies, practices and procedures with special reference to software engineering and architecture, options and solutions, as well as related business applications,
An understanding of the institutional, governmental and regulatory framework in which computer systems are operated,
Calculative, analytical and diagnostic ability,
Interpersonal and communicative skills,
Interpretative judgment,
An appreciation of the general principles and practices of business management,
Negotiating skills and the capacity to influence others to follow appropriate courses of action.
This knowledge, skills and abilities are normally obtained in the process of acquisition of a university degree in Computer Science (or equivalent accreditations) together with at least eight (8) years’ experience in a similar or related job.
