1.    Job Summary

The Facilities and Projects Engineer is responsible for coordinating and supporting facilities operation, maintenance activities and capital projects to ensure that the Company’s infrastructure, equipment and work environment remain safe, reliable and efficient. This includes overseeing day-to-day facility function, supervising small to medium-scale projects management support, and coordinating across departments and external service providers.

2.    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor day-to-day facilities operations including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, electrical and utilities

  • Plan, schedule, and execute capital and maintenance projects, ensuring delivery on time, within scope and within budget.

  • Oversee contractor activities, ensuring compliance with Company safety, quality and operational requirements.

  • Develop and support comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance strategies aimed at optimizing equipment performance, extending asset life, and minimizing unplanned downtime.

  • Maintain accurate project and facility-related records, including maintenance logs, contracts, drawings, and reports.

  • Prepare budgets, project updates, and progress reports for management review.

  • Assist in procurement and inventory management of parts, materials, and services related to facility upkeep and projects.

  • Track and report facility-related costs and project expenditures.

  • Support energy and utility efficiency initiatives across the facility.

  • Respond to emergencies and coordinate resolution promptly.

  • Comply with and promote the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Food Safety and other Company policies established by the Company.

 

3.    Key deliverables

  • Projects and facility-related works completed within timelines and budget.

  • Facilities maintenance strategy developed and implemented, with an aim to maximise department resources and provide excellent service to customers

  • Buildings, site and utilities are available and well maintained.

  • Accurate and up-to-date project and facilities documentation.

  • Effective contractor management and stakeholder communication.

  • Facility systems and infrastructure operating safely, reliably, and efficiently.

  • Timely reporting on maintenance and project progress to stakeholders.

  • Direct reports and contractors work in accordance with the BBC’s policies and procedures.

4.    General Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, Project Management, or related discipline.

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in facilities coordination, maintenance, or project support in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and reporting.

  • At least two (2) years’ experience at a supervisory level.

  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, CAPM) or facilities management (e.g., FMP, CFM) would be considered an asset.

  • AutoCAD would be considered an asset

  • Knowledge of HSE, food safety, and statutory compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook).

  • Role is based on a 5/7 work week with flexibility to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, or in emergency situations as required.

5.    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to oversee multiple priorities.

  • Knowledge of building systems (electrical, mechanical, HVAC, utilities, security, etc.).

  • Familiarity with construction methods and facilities maintenance practices.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.

  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to adapt to changing priorities.
