We are currently seeking experienced CDL A OTR Flatbed Drivers to join our team. This role is essential for the effective transportation and delivery of goods. Applicants should have a strong understanding of safety protocols and can properly secure loads.

This position is based in Chicago, IL. Our drivers will be responsible for performing duties within this city and potential long-haul trips across the country.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

2. Load Transportation: Safely transport loads of various sizes and weights, ensuring all cargo is properly secured to prevent damage or accidents during transport.

3. Load Securing: Keep a keen eye on securing loads to meet safety regulations and standards. The ability to skillfully use flatbed tie-down equipment is vital.

4. Route Planning: Plan your trips efficiently for scheduled deliveries at multiple customer locations within and outside the city.

5. Vehicle Maintenance: Perform regular inspections and minor maintenance on the vehicle to ensure safe operating conditions. Report any necessary repairs or possible concerns immediately.

6. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of cargo transported, distance traveled, fuel consumption, and other information as required by regulations or company policies.

7. Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service at delivery points. Handle any customer inquiries or concerns with professionalism and report to the management.

   Required Qualifications and Skills:

   1. CDL A License: Candidates must possess a current Class A Commercial Driver's License. Prior experience with long-haul driving is preferred.

   2. Flatbed Experience: Candidates should have significant flatbed truck driving experience. Knowledge of tie-down procedures for various types of cargo is crucial.

   3. Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with safety protocols in the transportation industry is a must. Candidates should be well-versed in state and federal driving rules and regulations.

   4. Physical Fitness: This role requires physical strength and stamina to load, unload, and secure cargo. It may also involve long hours of driving, lifting heavy equipment, and dealing with harsh weather conditions.

   5. Navigation Skills: Knowledge of basic map reading and GPS operation for effective routing is necessary. Previous experience with electronic logbooks is a plus.

   6. Communication Skills: Effective customer interaction requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is necessary.

   7. Mechanical Skills: Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and the ability to perform simple mechanical tasks, such as tire changes or oil checks, is important.

   8. Clean Driving Record: A clean driving record with no major violations within the past few years is expected.

   9. Flexibility: The ability to adapt to different routes and schedules as needed. Must be willing to accommodate overnight stays and long-haul trips if necessary.
