1.      Job Summary

 To carry out the necessary tests, trials and observations at the input, throughput and output stages of the production process to ensure that the company’s products are consistent with predetermined specifications.

 2.      Principal duties and Responsibilities

  •  To audit and report on all deviations from standards in the food manufacturing process from ingredient weights to finished product.

  • Carry out and record quality checks, inspections and/or audits on raw materials, finished product or process at required intervals and compare with checks being made by the Operator.

  • Provide colour standards for each product to guide oven operators, supervisors and quality control inspectors during production runs.

  • Reject and report and adhere to established non-conformance procedures for all raw materials and finished products.

  • Communicate quality and food safety issues and non-conformances to key stakeholders, so that necessary adjustments and/or actions could be made.

  • Carry out metal detector checks in accordance with approved procedures.

  • Ensure work area is kept in a clean and sanitary condition at all times.

  • Participate in projects related to product and production improvement from time to time or as required.

  • Provide support to other QC Inspectors and where necessary guidance to production operators as required. 

  • Ensure that all goods manufactured comply with established product standards. Communicate with Production Supervisor to halt production if issues are not addressed in a timely manner

  • Prepare reports as necessary

  • Comply and promote the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Food Safety and other company policies established by the Company

 3.      General Requirements

  • Diploma in Food Science or related fields

  • CQI or PCQI certification would be an asset

  • Minimum one (1) year experience will be considered an asset.

  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

  • Ability to communicate and influence a wide variety of stakeholders

  • Flexibility based on plant production schedules

  • Analytical, logical thought process and meticulous attention to detail

  • Ability to translate skills and knowledge to others

  • Knowledge of basic math and computer skills
